Police officer on leave following incident at local store

A South Bend Police officer has been relieved of duty with pay after being stopped by a loss prevention officer at a local store on Tuesday, according to a press release.

Police Chief Ruszkowski has asked the Indiana State Police to investigate the incident. Its findings will be submitted to the prosecutor for review.

An internal investigation is ongoing.
