SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The St. Joseph County Police Department says that 36-year-old William Sisk of South Bend is the man who was killed after being struck by a fallen tree on Cleveland Road in South Bend on Sunday.

Sisk works as a groundsman for New Image Tree Service and he was cutting down trees with four other employees.

At the time of the incident, an employee was cutting a tree that was intended to fall south.

However, the tree fell north instead when the employee made a back cut.

The tree landed north, striking Sisk and pinning him down underneath the base of the tree.

Medics and police officers were dispatched from Clay Fire Station 21.

A bobcat skid loader was used to lift the tree off of Sisk.

Sisk was transported to Memorial Hospital via ambulance but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

St. Joseph County Police Department and the Coroner's Office are investigating the incident.
