15-year-old in custody in connection with shooting at University Park Mall

UPDATE: A 15-year-old boy is in custody at the Juvenile Justice Center in connection with the shooting of the 16-year-old victim Sunday evening. The victim is in stable condition.

Police say this was an isolated incident and that there's no threat to the public. Anyone with information is asked to call the Mishawaka Police Detective Bureau at 574-258-1684 or Michiana Crime Stoppers at 574-288-STOP.

Mishawaka Police told ABC57 News they're leaning toward the shooting being accidental in nature.

MISHAWAKA, Ind. - Mishawaka Police confirmed they responded to a report of a shooting at University Park Mall just before 6 p.m. Sunday.

Officials say there was one juvenile girl suffering from a single gunshot wound to the back and that her condition is unknown at this time.
