Police seeking witnesses to fatal motorcycle crash

BERRIEN SPRINGS, Mich. -- A motorcyclist died after crashing his motorcycle on E. Shawnee Road just west of Laure Road in Berrien County Thursday around 5:30 p.m.

According to the Berrien Springs Oronoko Township Police, the driver was eastbound on E. Shawnee when he locked up the brakes of his motorcycle, lost control and was thrown from the bike.

The victim has been identified as 55-year-old Chris Clubine of Niles, Michigan.

It is not known what caused Clubine to lock up his brakes.

Clubine was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

A witness said there was a red mid-sized car in front of the motorcycle that didn't stop after the accident. It isn't known if this vehicle had anything to do with the crash.
