Gun violence on the decline in South Bend
BRISTOL, Ind. — Another storied local business in Michiana is set to close - this one after serving generations of customers, shopping for things like farming equipment and animal feed.
Kruse Farm Supply in Bristol is running steep discounts every week until late March.
That’s because Steve Kruse, the third-generation owner of the land, told ABC 57 he needs everything gone to make way for his final project: retirement.
“When you’re a small operation you get to be really good friends with all your suppliers and your customers,” Kruse said.
“That’s the hardest thing about it all. Once I decide to pull the trigger, that’s the hardest: telling everybody you’re going to do it and seeing them for maybe the last time as a customer.”
Kruse announced the closing on Facebook, and folks from around the community poured in with support and sadness.
But on top of being proud to beat tonsil cancer recently, Kruse said he’s also just thankful for those who do their business at his shop.
