Pregnant Michigan woman shot, set on fire gives birth to boy

WARREN, Mich. -- A Michigan woman who was shot and set on fire has given birth to a baby boy.

It happened Tuesday, the same day the child's father, Jamal Rogers and his friend Anthony Mathis were charged in the attack.

Saturday police say the two men bound 22-year-old Latonya Bowman with duct tape, set her on fire in a vacant house and shot her in the shoulder.

She escaped by playing dead.

"This is one of the most disturbing, maniacal, difficult-to-wrap-your-head-around crimes we've had in our city," said Warren Deputy Police Chief Louis Galasso.

Rogers allegedly didn't want to have a third child with a third woman. He and Mathis were denied bond on multiple charges including assault with intent to murder.
