Preliminary autopsy report on one-year-old released

The preliminary autopsy report has been released for the one-year-old who was found unresponsive Friday afternoon.

The Elkhart County Coroner's Office says the cause of death is undetermined, but there were no signs of trauma, according to our reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth.

According to Elkhart Police, they were dispatched to 1574 West Franklin Street on Friday, June 17 at 3:54 p.m. for reports of a child who was unresponsive.

The grandmother attempted to wake the child from a nap but the child would not wake up. She called 9-1-1 and started CPR.

The child was transported to Elkhart General Hospital where the child was pronounced dead.
