Preparations continue along the Gulf Coast as Isaac moves closer

FLORIDA -- All eyes on are Tropical Storm Isaac as it makes its way through the Caribbean.

The storm is expected to remain a tropical storm until it reaches the warmer waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

Isaac could strengthen into a category one hurricane on Monday.

On Friday, the director of the National Hurricane Center warned people along the gulf coast to get ready because of the storm's unpredictable path.

"We're not yet to the time frame where we have any watches and warnings for any part of Florida or other parts of the mainland land U.S. yet, but the threat is out there and preparation is key," Dr. Rick Knabb said.

Forecasters believe that Isaac will stay to the west of Tampa where the Republican National Convention starts next week.
