President promoted career skills initiative

The President stopped by Bladensburg High School in Maryland Monday morning to promote a career skills initiative.

He announced the winners of a competition for more than $100-million in grant money to help prepare high school students for careers in high demand fields.

"The idea behind this competition is how do we start making high school in particular more interesting, more exciting, and more relevant to young people? We want to reward the schools that are being most innovative," said President Obama.

The grant money comes as a result of an executive order signed by President Obama last year that aimed to help better prepare high school students for college or jobs.
