Pride Ride in South Bend Saturday

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The LGBTQ Center and South Bend Bike Garage are hosting a casual group bike ride to celebrate and kick off Pride Month.

After the Pride Ride, participants are invited to socialize at the Launch Party at The Lauber.

Organizers are planning to meet at South Bend Bike Garage, at 1441 N Michigan St. in South Bend, at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 1. Free parking is available.

From 4 to 4:30 p.m., riders will have the opportunity to get their bike cleaned and tuned up at no cost by Bike Garage volunteers.

The bike group will leave at 4:30 p.m. for an estimated ride time of 45 minutes to an hour.

Organizers expect to be back at the Bike Garage by 5:30 p.m.

Participants are then invited to bike or drive to The Lauber for the Launch Party starting at 6 p.m.

Organizers say this event is a family friendly ride entirely on the trail system, separated from vehicles with only a few road crossings.

The ride will be a 7.7-mile loop one way at a casual pace. The group will ride at the pace set by the slowest member.

There will be paved surface most of the way, flat with only one significant downhill and one uphill.

It's recommended you bring your own bike, helmet, and water, and to dress for the weather, wear sunscreen, etc.

Riders are encouraged to wear pride colors if they'd like to.

You can view the official Facebook event page for further details and updates.
