Prison makes donation to LaPorte special education program

LA PORTE, Ind.—Westville Correctional Facility made a donation to a LaPorte County special education program on January 10.

The prison’s warden, Mark Sevier, presented the $3,000 donation to Paula Nichols, the LaPorte Director of Special Education.

Nichols says that 25% of all students in LaPorte County are classified as special needs and that these types of donations will be used to buy extras such as sensory balls, wiggle chairs, and books.

According to Nichols, these materials are not often covered in normal budgets and grants.
