LA PORTE, Ind. -- There was a reproductive rights rally in La Porte on Friday where people gathered to protest the overturning of Roe v Wade and voice their concern for the right to an abortion.

About thirty people gathered at the street corner of State Road 4 and State Road 2 in front of the La Porte County Courthouse to protest the overturning of Roe v Wade.

Men and women alike came out and even a few children were here to support the cause.

The big thing on a lot of people’s mind is the overturning of Roe v Wade, turning abortion decisions back to the states.

Victoria Abner, the rally coordinator, put together the rally to give people the chance to speak out.

“I’m thinking about all the women who feel like they have had their choices taken away or feel violated by the overturning of Roe v Wade. Cause it is gonna cause a lot of issues for a lot of women,” said Abner.

Co-coordinator of the rally Jessica VanHook is concerned that politicians are making decisions on things that don’t affect them.

“These politicians that are making these decisions for us when it doesn’t affect them at all. As a disabled person people like me are more at higher risk of pregnancy and needing a lifesaving abortion,” VanHook tells ABC57.

It was not only women that came out to support the cause, a friend of Victoria’s, Samuel Kreigh came all the way from Fort Wayne to support his friend.

“I just love people I just want to support people for what they want, what they need, so I just care about people and whatever they want basically,” Kreigh said.
