Program seeks to strengthen youth, police relationships

To help improve relationships between police and Benton Harbor’s youth, an organization called Dedication to Community will present a new initiative at two Michigan High Schools on Wednesday

The presentation is Choose2Live and on top of being an educational opportunity for students it’s also a chance to build a better relationship.

The Berrien County community is coming together to support both the area’s law enforcement and its youth.

Organizations like the Michigan Department of Civil Rights and the Whirlpool Corporation were involved in the effort to bring Choose2Live to Berrien County schools.

In recent months, trust between the nation’s youth and police has gone down in multiple states across the country.

But Berrien County Commissioner Marletta Seats says a program like Choose2Live is just the thing to provide youth the skills they need to interact with law enforcement.
