Registration open for South Bend Cubs kids training camps

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Registration is now open for the South Bend Cubs' kids training camps this summer.

The 2023 Meijer Baseball Academy will be held at Four Winds Field July 5-7 and August 2-4.

The camps are open to kids ages six to 12. Each three-day session costs $135 per child.

Due to the camps' popularity and the ability to provide proper instruction, each session is capped at 80 participants.

During the sessions, attendees will learn the fundamentals of all things baseball, including hitting, pitching, fielding, catching and base running, directly from South Bend Cubs players and coaches. Both sessions teach the same skills.

“This is an incredibly popular camp and each session sells out every year,” said Chris Hagstrom-Jones, South Bend Cubs Assistant General Manager for Marketing and Media. “Many kids keep coming back year after year and it’s great to be able to see their progress and development, not just as a player, but as young adults. It’s incredibly rewarding for the coaching staff and players who teach the camps."

Camp participants get a Meijer Baseball Academy T-shirt, a South Bend Cubs hat, lunch after each camp day and four tickets to a South Bend Cubs game.

Campers in the first session will get tickets to the South Bend Cubs' July 6 game and campers in the second session will get tickets for the August 3 game.

Campers will also take part in a pre-game recognition on the field during their designated game.

The deadline to register for either of the camp sessions is June 9.

Registration must be done online but those who need help with registration can visit the Four Winds Field Main Office for assistance.

Keep an eye out for a special contest on the South Bend Cubs' Facebook and Twitter pages, as Meijer will be giving away free admission to two campers.

More details on that contest will be available on the Cubs' social media pages in May.
