Relay for Life continues through Sunday

Relay for Life is happening at Mishawaka High School and more than 70 teams are participating this year.

This year's theme for the crowd is Dr. Seuss.

The annual event is held to raise money to end cancer and bring together cancer survivors as well as those who have lost loved ones to the disease.

People were out at 10:00 a.m. to begin the first relay honoring survivors.

Later events were planned to honor caregivers and those who have lost loved ones.

Patti Reinhardt, the event coordinator says, "Everything that we raise here today stays local. So research, advocacy, education and services, all the money raised by the American Cancer Society stays right here.”

The event lasts 24 hours and will continue through 10:00 a.m. Sunday.
