Resident shot during home invasion Wednesday morning

A man was shot early Wednesday morning when armed men entered his home in the 800 block of S. Kosciuszko Street, according to the South Bend Police Department.

Police said they were called to the residence around 3:45 a.m. to investigate a home invasion and shooting.

When they arrived, they located Daniel Bueno, 20, with gunshot wounds.

"It is scary," neighbor Georgiane Fuentes said.

Bueno was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said the suspects were males in their 20s, who wore dark clothing, and were armed with guns.

The suspects took money from the residents, shot Bueno, then fled after taking additional items from the residence, police said.

Neighbors say Kosciuszko Street is typically quiet.

"It was kind of a shock, it really was," Fuentes said.
