Richard Mourdock and Republican leaders hold unity event

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.-- In the fall, there will be a new senator representing Indiana.

State Treasurer, Richard Murdock, easily defeated six-term Senator Dick Lugar in Tuesday's primary.

Wednesday, Murdock appeared with Governor Mitch Daniels and other Republican leaders, for what they called a unity event. Murdock answered critics who called him too extreme for Indiana.

Mourdock said, ""The Democratic party is very good at trying to put labels on people. The first label they're going to try and put on me is that Mourdock is this wild eye tea party guy. I've been swimming in the pool of Republican politics for sometime. This party I love."
