SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Former Notre Dame quarterback Riley Leonard took his first NFL snaps in the Colts’ preseason opener against the Ravens last night. Leonard entered in the second half after starter Anthony Richardson left with a finger injury. While he had some passing struggles, completing 12 of 24 throws for 92 yards, Leonard impressed on the ground with 34 rushing yards and led the Colts on a touchdown drive. With Richardson’s injury history and backup Daniel Jones still trying to find his footing, Leonard could have a real shot at earning playing time—if not by Week 1, then later in the season. ABC57 will continue following Leonard’s progress throughout the preseason and regular season. Irish fans will be watching closely to see if he can deliver a standout rookie year.
