Riley students to compete at national rocketry challenge
Team members from Riley Rocketry from Riley High School are heading to Washington DC for the national finals of the Team America Rocketry Challenge.
The TARC Final Fly-Off is scheduled for May 14 at Great Meadow in the Plains, Virginia.
They have to launch a rocket at least 850 feet high with 2-eggs inside.
It must return to earth within 44 to 46 seconds and the eggs must be in perfect condition.
The all-girls team is competing for more than 100,000 in prizes and scholarships.
"It was so cool. I didn't think it was possible until we got the letter and they were like 'Congratulations, you made it to Nationals!' I was like: Are you serious? That is so awesome. And then being on my team, we are all so supportive of each other. We are so excited," said senior Margo Bokhart.
If they win, they qualify for an international competition in London.
