Mostly quiet weather Thursday helped Michiana dry out from heavy rainfall earlier this week. Additionally, the break in the rain showers allowed rivers to stop rising.
Despite the extreme rainfall across the Yellow River Basin, as of Thursday evening, the latest forecast from the National Weather Service has the Yellow River staying below flood stage in Plymouth.
After cresting near moderate flood stage Thursday morning, the level of St. Joseph River at South Bend is starting to fall as well. However, the river will likely still be in minor flood stage until Sunday.
As of Thursday evening, no river in the ABC57 viewing area is forecast to enter moderate or major flood stage.
However, there are more chances for thunderstorms in the forecast early next week, which could bring more heavy rain. Stay with ABC57 for the latest forecast.
