Riverside Drive in South Bend to close down for construction

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Riverside Drive in South Bend will close down on Monday from Lafayette Boulevard to Michigan Street for the final phase a construction project. The road is expected to reopen by Friday.

Motorists will be detoured via Lafayette Boulevard and Bartlett Street.

Construction will include new sidewalks, replacement of a storm sewer, a view overlooking the river and a raised walkway that will connect Leaper Park with the overlook.

Officials say that this will slow down traffic and establish a safer environment for pedestrians.
