Road construction notice for Ferry Street in Berrien Springs
BERRIEN SPRINGS, Mich. -- Berrien Springs has announced a road construction project on Ferry Street, set to begin on Oct. 21. The project will span from M-139 to the village limits and is expected to last approximately two weeks.
The Ferry Street improvement project will involve milling the existing roadway surface before applying a hot mix asphalt (HMA) overlay. The schedule for the project is as follows permitting weather conditions:
- Monday, October 21, 2024: Temporary lowering of manhole structures and covers.
- Tuesday, October 22, 2024: Roadway surface preparation and milling of the existing asphalt surface.
- Wednesday, October 23, 2024 & Thursday, October 24, 2024: Roadway paving operations to apply the HMA overlay.
Pavement marking will follow, with the schedule subject to project progression, weather conditions, and contractor availability.
Once construction begins there will be traffic restrictions with no permitted street parking on Ferry Street. Intermittent lane closures will be managed by flaggers, and travelers should expect possible delays and stoppages.
