UPDATE: Suspect found, arrested after road rage incident near Buchanan hospitalizes one man Friday
4 P.M. UPDATE: Authorities now say the male victim was transposed to Memorial Hospital in South Bend where he is currently alive.
Members of the detective bureau were able to locate the suspect vehicle in Indiana and BCSO detectives were able to work with members of the Mishawaka Police Department to locate and arrest the person believed to be responsible for the incident.
ORIGINAL: BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- The Berrien County Sheriff's Office says they were called to JD's Truckstop early Friday morning for reports of a shooting.
At approximately 3:38 a.m., authorities arrived on scene and found a victim who had been shot. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
"Officers learned that the shooting stemmed from a road rage incident that occurred nearby while the two vehicles were travelling on US-12, in Bertrand Township," the BCSO said.
The BCSO evidence tech team was called in to process the scene and members of the BCSO detective bureau are actively investigating the crime.
"We will be providing updates as this investigation progresses," the BCSO said.
