Road restrictions expected to slow down Michiana drivers' commute

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A heads up to drivers all over Michiana, there are a few road projects going on and some of the restrictions and closures could slow down the commute.

Starting at 6 Monday morning in Mishawaka, drivers won't be allowed to turn left at the Grape and Douglas Road intersection. NIPSCO will be working to relocate gas lines. The project is scheduled to wrap up  in three weeks.

In South Bend, the LaSalle Avenue and Niles Boulevard intersection will be closed Monday. Crews are getting ready to install a storm sewer through the intersection.

In LaPorte, State Road 2 will be down to one lane Monday morning. The restriction is between County Road 500 West and 18th street.

INDOT said crews are prepping for a fog sealing operation. Flaggers will be present directing traffic between 7 Monday morning until 1 in the afternoon.

Traffic at County Road 400 West will not be allowed to cross State Road 2 for 30 minutes after fog sealing starts.

Long delays are expected during the LaPorte project.
