New settlement with Indiana allows Landmark to apply for recertification
LAPORTE COUNTY – The Indiana Department of Transportation will begin road work on the US 20 and SR 2 intersection on Monday, March 18.
INDOT will eliminate the traffic signal, redirect north-south traffic onto a bridge and east-west traffic underneath the bridge, and will place roundabouts at the north and south ends of the bridge, creating a "dogbone."
During the project, the corridor will be closed to north-south (LaPorte to New Carlisle) traffic between CR N 500 E and Oak Knoll Road, while east-west traffic (Michigan City to South Bend) will be one lane in each direction from Oak Knoll Road to CR N 600 E.
The project is expected to be complete in November.
