MISHAWAKA, Ind. - Indiana Second District Congressman Rudy Yakym stopped by a Habitat for Humanity site on Monday, September 25.
Yakym visited Darnell Park at The Fields at Highland subdivision, at the corner of Jefferson Blvd. and Byrkit St., where a new home is being built.
Yakym highlights the importance of Habitat's "great service to our community" with the opportunities they give to build homes for families in need.
Habitat for Humanity doesn't give out homes for free.
Applicants must prove a stable income, the ability to pay for their mortgage and attend a series of classes about home maintenance and budgeting.
After his visit today, Yakym will return to Washington D.C. for budget votes.
