Runner dies during Chicago Marathon

CHICAGO, Ill.--An autopsy is planned today for a runner who collapsed and died in the Chicago marathon this weekend.

Authorities say the 35-year-old North Carolina firefighter collapsed while running around 10:30 Sunday morning. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. The marathon director says his staff was on site, and did what they could.

No word yet on what caused his collapse. The last time a runner died at the Chicago marathon was four years ago.
