Running for a good cause

Saturday morning was the 5th Annual Homeward Bound Walk for the Homeless.

The event was sponsored by four local non-profits in Elkhart County and the money raised is divided among the organizations to help finance food pantries and house the local homeless population.

The organizations involved are Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County, LaCasa, Inc., Church Community Services, and Goshen Interfaith Hospitality Network.

According to Homeward Bound Chairperson and GIHN Site Supervisor Mindy Morehead, attendance this year has more than doubled compared to attendance last year.

She said they had more than 40 people sign up for the event this year and she hopes next year will be even bigger.

The one mile Fun Run started at 9:00 a.m. and the 5K started at 9:30 a.m.
