South Bend community donates blood at Grace UMC
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Safe Paws Recovery Housing of Michiana is a non-profit organization seeking to give pets a temporary home while their owners deal with unexpected hospitalization or housing issues and can't bring their pets along.
ABC57's Summer Horan sat down with Heather Mason, the founder and president of Safe Paws Recovery Housing of Michiana, to speak about what the non-profit is all about as well as the Steps for Safe Paws 5K Walk event planned for Saturday.
There is no registration fee for the Steps for Safe Paws 5K Walk, though donations are encouraged. It is planned to have a rolling start from 9 to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, starting at Howard Park in South Bend. If there's rain, the date is planned to shift to Saturday, June 13.
Dogs are welcome at the event, though they must stay on their leashes. To learn more about Safe Paws and the 5K, you can look on their website.
