Safety tips for college students

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Police Department has tips for college students who are returning to campus.
- Always be aware of your surroundings
- Be alert to suspicous people or vehicles
- Ask someone to walk with you if you must go out at night
- Use ATMs inside businesses instead of those outdoors
South Bend police say thefts and armed assaults often skyrocket the first week back to school.
