Saint Joseph Health System announces $25M investment in new cancer center

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Saint Joseph Health System announced they're investing $25 million into a comprehensive Cancer Center in Mishawaka.

The new Cancer Center will provide comprehensive oncology, as well as hematology services, as well as diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of cancers and blood disorders. The center also will offer advanced radiation and expanded infusion capabilities.

 "This investment represents an exciting new chapter for cancer care in our region," said Chris Karam, President of Saint Joseph Health System. "Through the support of Trinity Health, we are affirming our commitment to the health of our community. By expanding and enhancing our cancer services, we will provide patients and families with greater access to advanced treatments, expert specialists and comprehensive care in a setting designed around their needs."

In addition, Ebenezer Kio, MD, a hematology and oncology provider with roots in the community, is set to join the Saint Joseph Medical Group on Sep. 21.

The approximately 25,000-square-foot Saint Joseph Mishawaka Medical Center Cancer Center, located within the Saint Joseph Mishawaka Medical Office Building at 611 E. Douglas Rd. will consolidate cancer services in a modern, patient-centered environment.

Renovation and construction will begin in the fall.
