ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - Saint Joseph High School has formed a committee to discuss whether the school should keep or change its mascot, Indians.
The committee is comprised of 13 Saint Joseph alumni, faculty, staff, coaches, parents, and students, who will meet from now through May to make the decision.
The School Nickname Evaluation Committee will invite the wider community and stakeholders to participate in the conversation through town hall meetings and a survey.
After input is gathered, the committee will make a recommendation to the school board and the principal.
If a change is made, a second phase will begin to choose a new nickname and mascot.
