Saint Mary's Volleyball Team to Help "Crush for the Cure"

While volleyball teams across the country will be hosting "Dig for the Cure" nights to raise funds for cancer awareness and research, the Saint Mary's volleyball team will host "Crush for the Cure" to benefit South Bend native and Saint Mary's alumna Anne Blair Payne '02 and her fight against lymphoma.

Anne attended Christ the King School, South Bend St. Joseph High School, and Saint Mary's College. While at Saint Mary's, she was a four-year member of the varsity basketball team.

The volleyball team will host their "Crush for the Cure" night on Wednesday, October 10 as they host MIAA opponent Albion at 7:00 p.m. at Angela Athletic Facility. The team is hoping to "white out" the gym and encourages fans to wear white t-shirts to show their support. Anne and her family will be in attendance at the match, and there will be a special presentation between the second and third sets of the match. All funds raised through donations and ticket sales, purchases of "Crush It" wristbands, and pledges for kills on the night will go directly to Anne's treatment for lymphoma.
