NILES, Mich. – The Niles Salvation Army is asking for donations from the public after dealing with a shortage in supplies.
The Salvation Army asked for essential items like peanut butter, soup and pasta as well as toiletries like toothpaste and soap.
This comes after they claim a drop in donations, which is actually common for this time of the year.
“In January and February after Christmas time people don’t think to donate as much. It’s not the holiday spirit so we start to see a decrease,” said Lt. Kendra of the Niles Salvation Army.
In a Facebook post, the Niles Salvation Army said the shortage can also be contributed to an increase in the number of guests.
Those wishing to donate can stop by the Niles Salvation Army on 15th Street.
They are open every weekday from 8 a.m.to 4 p.m. and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to noon.
