Saving Lives Safety Fair features BMX bikers
SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The Saving Lives Safety Fair took place outside of Coveleski Stadium on Sunday.
People of all ages stopped by to learn how to prevent injuries at home, outdoors and in their vehicles.
The South Bend Fire and Police departments along with Memorial Health were some of the community participants.
There were free helmets, gun safety info and a BMX bike show featuring athletes from Michiana.
"So this year we have Solution Action Sports, which is out of Fort Wayne, Ind. This is a BMX group that also promotes bike helmet safety and just general bike safety with the kids," said Greg Bingaman, director of trauma services.
This was the second year for the event.
Organizers say they are already planning for a bigger and better safety fair next year.
