Search continues for missing Notre Dame alum in Troy, Michigan

TROY, Mich.-- The search continues tonight for a missing Notre Dame alum in Michigan.

Meanwhile investigators are calling his son who is a current Notre Dame student a 'murder suspect'.

Police believe 55-year-old Patrick Mikes Sr. was killed in the basement of his home in Troy, Michigan after they found what they described as a "violent encounter".

Troy Police say his son, Patrick Mikes Jr., a Notre Dame student, is a suspect in his father's murder.

Investigators say they have surveillance video of Mikes Jr. buying cleaning supplies last week.

There was a lot of blood found in the basement of the house.

Our sister station, WXYZ, in Detroit reports that investigators are leaning toward money as a possible motive and they say the father may have "cut Mikes Jr. off financially.

Mikes Jr. has been charged with credit card fraud for allegedly stealing from his 16-year-old brother.
