PLYMOUTH, Ind. --- The search for a missing Plymouth couple continued into Monday evening. Police issued a statewide silver alert for 80-year-old William Wallace on Monday morning.
Jane Wallace, William’s wife, is in the company of William and police are searching for them both.
Due to concerns with health problems, the Plymouth Police Department told ABC 57 that William’s possible undiagnosed dementia matched the category to declare a silver alert. He is believed to be in extreme danger and may require medical assistance.
The couple’s daughter called into the Plymouth Police Department Sunday night after receiving information from the Janesville Police Department in Wisconsin, according to Ben McIntyre, Detective at the Plymouth Police Department.
Neighbors told ABC 57 that they spoke to the couple’s daughter and the two were headed to Chicago on Saturday for what was supposed to be a day trip. However, their daughter was told the couple was pulled over on Saturday night.
“They were put up into a hotel in Janesville,” said McIntyre. “And the hotel said they checked out at approximately 8:30/9 am that morning and no one’s seen or heard from them since,” explained McIntyre.
Police have tried to track the couple but the normal avenues are not providing any leads at this time.
“Unfortunately they did not have any cellphones,” said McIntyre. “Apparently they didn’t have any debit cards either through the bank, so our normal avenues of tracking someone through cellphones or bank purchases and stuff like that, we haven’t been able to do that as of yet,” said McIntyre.
A Plymouth resident reported to police that he witnessed Jane Wallace leaving a nearby Martin’s Supermarket on Saturday.
“Around Saturday, probably around noon I saw the wife of the missing couple, Mrs. Wallace,” described Tobias Hendrix, Plymouth resident.
