SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Family and Children’s Center in South Bend is hosting their second annual ‘Candy Run’ on Saturday to help out St. Joseph County kids.

If you would like to participate, they are doing sign-in’s at 8:30 a.m. and the cost to attend per rider is $20.

They will be taking off from the Family and Children’s Center at 9 a.m. and will run until 11 a.m. with a routed plan.

They are teaming up with some local candy shops in Michiana throughout the 70-mile motorcycle ride to give you a sweet treat.

In between stops, you can choose from a variety of participating stores to get samples.

Some participating stores are the South Bend Chocolate Company, Wakarusa Dime Store, and Veni’s Sweet Shop Niles.

The organizer of the event Claire Powell says she is excited to see the community come out to the event.

“We expect to have a great turn out and we're really excited. This event is going to raising funds towards our programming that promotes prevention of child abuse and neglect throughout St. Joseph County,” Powell said.

And, each dollar bill towards the ride is going towards supplemental programs that help prevent child abuse and neglect.

“We would just love to get to the goal of raising 5000, that would be so great but we would just be happy to raise any things to support the great cause,” Powell said.
