Former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg met with front line transit workers in Washington on Friday.
Buttigieg thanked the workers for their dedication and work through the pandemic.
He also asked everyone else to support them as well by complying with the mask directive for travelers.
“As you know health and safety is the Biden-Harris Administration’s number one priority and therefore the number one priority of the Department of Transportation. The science is very clear, face coverings stop the spread of virus transmission and science-based measures are essential to preventing and defeating COVID-19,” Buttigieg said.
Buttigieg said the mask requirement on mass transit will help save lives and protect workers so they can keep people moving.
