UPDATE: MDOT announced on Monday that MJ Electric have revised their schedule, and the closure of Snowberry Road has been changed from the original road closure period.
The revised date for the closure is now scheduled for May 5 to May 13, 2025.
ORIGINAL: NEW CARLISLE -- New electric lines are being installed on a section of Snowberry Road, near New Carlisle, starting April 28.
"This project entails running new aerial electric transmission lines across Snowberry Road in the area from Gant Road north to S.R. 2," said Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Growth Project Manager Andrew Hayes.
"MJ Electric plans to begin work on Monday April 28, anticipating completion on or about May 2, 2025. During this time Snowberry Road will be subjected to daytime closures between 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. The road will be reopened to traffic upon the completion of the contractor's daily activities throughout this period of time."
Road crews say that a detour will be clearly marked by signage during the closures.
"Signs will be placed to guide motorists around the closure of Snowberry Road from Grant Road north to S.R. 2," Hayes said. "Motorists will utilize Grant Road for east and westbound travel and Tulip Road for north and south bound traffic."
