Section of Poppy Road to be closed part of Jan. 11-12 to repair pavement
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The City of South Bend has announced its intention to close Poppy Road temporarily in order to replace a section of pavement that was removed for an Jan. 4 emergency repair to their force main.
According to officials, Poppy Road will be closed between US20 and Cleveland Road beginning Jan. 11 at 7:30 a.m. and is expected to remain closed until roughly 1 p.m. Jan. 12.
Access to Serenity Drive and all properties from 53220 Poppy Rd. and those north of Serenity Drive will be from Cleveland Road.
"Closure will start at the US20 and Poppy Road intersection north until the Serenity Dr. and Poppy Road intersection. Signage will be at these intersections," said Project Manager Andrew Hayes. "The red arrows (in the image above) indicate the direction residents and emergency services needed in this stretch can use to get in and out of the area. The red X will be the completely impassable road section. For general traffic, they will be detoured to use Olive Road instead of Poppy Road to get to areas off of Old Cleveland and US20."
