A semi driver who was involved in a three semi, chain reaction crash Monday morning died from his injuries, according to the St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team.
Investigators say a semi was traveling eastbound on SR 2 and rear ended a second another semi that was stopped in traffic eastbound. The second semi then collided with a third semi that was also stopped for traffic.
The driver of the second semi was taken to Memorial hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the first semi, which rear ended the second semi, was identified as 30 year old Del Villar Pacheco Joaking of Chicago.
Joaking was extricated from his vehicle and taken to Memorial Hospital for treatment of critical injuries. He died later in the evening of his injuries.
The driver of the third semi was not injured.
FACT says speed was a factor in the crash and toxicology results are pending.
