Semi truck collision in Berrien County claims life of a teen

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- A teenage girl is dead this morning after police say her car collided with a semi truck.

The accident happened on I-94 eastbound in Benton Township.

Witnesses say 18-year-old Nicole Crider a senior at Bridgman High School, lost control of her car as she drove in the westbound lane Thursday around 4:30 p.m. They say she crossed over into on-coming traffic and that's when Crider collided with the semi truck.

The teenager had to be extracted from her car by fire fighters. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi, 34-year-old Chad Lennox was not hurt during the accident.
