NAPPANEE, Ind. -- Senator Rand Paul was the keynote speaker at the Lincoln Day Dinner Saturday evening hosted by the Elkhart Republican Party. He was joined by Todd Young and Rudy Yaykm.
They discussed what the want to succeed in the United States and the presidents " One Big Beautiful Bill".
He criticized the presidents " Big Beautiful Bill, referring to it as the “big, not yet beautiful, bill.” Paul voiced concerns about the proposal to raise the debt ceiling to $5 trillion and urged the president to separate the debt ceiling vote from the bill.
“The debt ceiling being raised to 5 trillion is too much,” Paul said. “So what I’ve suggested to the President, we should separate out the debt ceiling in a separate vote, and then I can support the bill, not with the debt ceiling increase.”
Paul emphasized the urgency of addressing the national debt, noting that interest payments alone are crowding out other federal priorities.
