Serious motorcycle injury leaves man in critical condition
NEW BUFFALO TOWNSHIP, Mich.—On Saturday around 6:30 p.m., emergency response units were dispatched to a unknown injury accident in New Buffalo Township on I-94 eastbound at the exit 4 off ramp to US 12 heading to Niles.
Upon arrival, units found that a motorcycle had crashed and the driver was found unconscious.
Witnesses reported that the motorcycle was speeding at the sharp curve of the exit, lost control of the motorcycle, and ran off the roadway crashing in a ditch ejecting the driver from the bike.
The driver, Daniel Francis, 53-years-old of Shelby, Indiana suffered serious life threatening injuries. There were no passengers with him.
He was transported to Spectrum Lakeland of St Joseph.
Francis was not wearing a helmet.
The crash is still under investigation and it is not known if drugs or alcohol played a factor.
