Several involved in highway crash after fleeing traffic stop

ELKHART, Ind. & ST JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- Officers of the Goshen Police Department apprehended the driver of a Pontiac G6 near the State Road 19 exit after it drove through a traffic stop this Friday evening.

Around 11 p.m., the vehicle crashed upon attempting to exit Bypass 20 at the Elm Road exit in St. Joseph County. Four female occupants then fled on foot, only to be located later.

The 21-year-old driver was arrested and incarcerated at the Elkhart County Jail.

The other three occupants, all juveniles, were taken to the Mishawaka Police Department to be picked up by adult family members.

There is an ongoing investigation.
