Several properties hit the auction block in Elkhart
Elkhart, Ind. --Monday, a favorite Elkhart hangout hit the auction block.
Rainbo Lanes accepted bids on the building and all of the equipment inside.
The bidding started slowly, but quickly picked up.
The son of the original owner told us he made some great memories at the bowling alley, and is sad to see it go.
Rainbo Lanes wasn’t the only property in Elkhart County that was up for auctions today.
More than 1000 pieces of property went up for auction in the county.
The properties were delinquent on taxes and special assessments.
Elkhart County holds the auction pretty routinely, but more than two-thirds of the properties that were being auctioned off were up for bid for the first time.
Cory White, someone who invests in the properties said "Some will be resold. Some will be apartments."
Dulce Mendoza, who bought her first house at the auction said, "Yes this is going to be my first home and I’m nervous, but I’m so happy.”
There were almost twice as many properties auctioned off this year, than there were last year.
