Severe weather possible amidst several rounds of showers and storms this weekend
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue to pelt pockets of our areas in multiple rounds today: the first during the rest of this morning and the second wave developing in the mid to late afternoon. High temperatures reach the upper 80s and dewpoints surge before the second round of rain, resulting in a humid stretch of weather ahead. The risk for severe weather is higher today than tomorrow, but the overall threat profile is still on the lower end. If storms area able to form this afternoon, they will intensify quickly and produce torrential downpours, gusty winds, and small hail. A few showers linger into tonight as lows drop to the mid 70s. Patchy and dense fog is possible Saturday but will dissipate quickly as second half showers and storms develop in the afternoon and evening via cold front. Those who do not see storms Saturday will still feel hot and humid with heat index values in the mid to upper 90s. Sunday is quiet and much cooler than the first half of this weekend; high temperatures likely peak in the mid 80s.
