Emmett Twomey, Meteorologist
Emmett Twomey joined the ABC57 First Warning Neighborhood Weather Team in 2023. Graduating from Valparaiso University (Go Beacons!) with a degree in meteorology and a minor in history, this is his first position out of college. Emmett grew up in a southwest suburb of Chicago called Orland Park and wanted to become a meteorologist when severe weather entered Chicagoland during the summer. His favorite seasons are fall and winter, mostly because he gets sunburnt easily during the spring and summer.
At Valpo, Emmett got the privilege to serve in a variety of roles. He was a resident assistant, freshman orientation assistant, tour guide, campus improv club member, fraternity president, sports director of his campus TV station, member of the Valpo chapter of the American Meteorological Society, Storm Intercept Team, and a meteorology lab aide for undergraduate students. Emmett was an intern at ABC57 starting in August 2022, but became a full-time member of the team in June 2023.
Besides the weather, Emmett loves Star Wars, LEGO, museums of any kind, dogs, Chicago/Notre Dame sports, barbecue, playing sports, the TV show "Ted Lasso," and theater!
Emmett is beyond pumped to explore Michiana and meet as many people as possible, go to South Bend Cubs games, and find the best food spots around!
