Short closures to affect US31 Sept 19 and 24

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces a change in the schedule for bridge beam settings on U.S. 31, between Johnson Road and Ireland Road. Crews still plan to set beams Thursday September 19, starting sometime after 12 p.m., forcing a 20 minute complete closure of U.S. 31 in this area. A second beam setting, prompting another 20 minute closure, will happen later Thursday afternoon. Numerous lane restrictions and U.S. 20 Bypass ramp closures will also be in effect in this area Thursday.

A second day of bridge beam settings, accompanied by two, 20 minute complete closures was planned for Friday. But due to storms in the forecast, those beam settings will now be rescheduled for Tuesday, September 24th.

To avoid delays drivers are encouraged to avoid this stretch of U.S. 31 entirely on Thursday September 19 and Tuesday, September 24th.
